FAQs: Business Travel

What is the travel share by area?

  • Pre‑commissioning, project/site management & site supervision: 100%
  • PLC programming: approx. 50%
  • Project management (automation engineering): approx. 25%
  • Project management (sales): approx. 10%
  • All other functions: only sporadically

How are assignments planned and how long am I on the road at a time?

We inform you as early as possible before project start about your assignment. We use a 10/4 travel model:

Week 1: travel Monday, work Mon–Sat, Sun off.
Week 2: work Mon–Thu, Thu return travel, Fri–Sun off.

Then the next 10/4 cycle begins.

Is there flexitime and mobile work – how does that fit travel?

Yes, we have flexitime in general; on construction sites it’s more limited due to the nature of work. Mobile work is possible after onboarding; a company policy provides for up to 50%. The specific setup is aligned with your team lead.

What does onboarding look like – when is the first customer assignment?

For roles with high site presence, new colleagues start with 2–3 weeks at our Ettlingen HQ: rotations through relevant teams, training, inductions and medicals. The first customer assignment follows depending on the project.

How are travel and expenses organized (flights, hotel, expenses)?

Your team/project lead registers the trip with our travel office, which books accommodation, tickets and any rental car. Costs are covered directly by the company. Necessary expenses can be paid via a corporate credit card (after probation). Expenses are submitted every 14 days; once checked they’re reimbursed immediately.
